These little Winter Folk are perfect for storytelling with your own little ones. King and Queen Winter and a little Reindeer fit perfectly over your fingers to act out a winter tale. They can also be stuffed with a bit of tissue paper in order to help them stand up and make a wonderful addition to your winter nature table.
Materials
Embroidery needle and floss
Scissors
Desired felt sheets (they usually are sold in craft stores with dimensions of at least 9 inches x 12 inches) in colors of your choosing.
~For King and Queen Winter, I used light blue, deep blue, white and light flesh tone felt.
~For the reindeer, I used light brown, dark brown, and white.
Instructions
To print out the pattern templates simply right click one of the images (which each has all of the template pattern components in one image) and click “print picture”. Once you have printed it you can use a copier machine to increase or decrease the size of the pattern as desired. You will base your sizing for the puppets solely on the length of the finger of the person for whom you are making the puppet.
The length of the body of each of the puppets in this tutorial is 3 1/2 inches tall.
As long as you increase the size of all of the components in each image by the same percentage you will have a puppet that sews together perfectly.

Cut out the following colored pieces from the patterns using wool felt as shown. You can use whatever colors that you like.

To stitch the different pieces of the puppets together, simply use a running stitch and embroidery floss in desired colors to attach the felt embellishments to the front body of the puppet. Knot at the back once each piece is attached.
For simple eyes ( and the Reindeer’s nose), do a single French knot embroidery stitch.
You will be left with three puppets ready for assembly.
To do the final assembly of the puppets, just place the two halves of the puppet body one on top of each other.
Use either a running stitch or a blanket stitch ( as shown here) to sew the two halves together.
Follow the same steps for each of the puppets.
Once done, slip them onto the fingers of a little one and let the story telling unfold.
