Newborn Cocoon

PixiePurls_June_1

Newborns crave warmth, and there is nothing better than a soft cocoon to keep them warm in. Knit with different weight of yarn to create a bulky feel, this pattern is easy and fun to make as gifts for those holiday wee ones.

This is knit with two different size needles. The variegated yarn is using smaller size 13 needles and the blue is with size 17. Both utilize the same pattern but the size 17 is considerably larger for an older baby such as 3 months. The most important thing is that there is looseness in the finished fabric so baby’s toes can peek through. This can be made longer and top rolled down.

Cast on 4 stitches on each needle. Knit the first needle stitches and then the second needle you will need to knit into the back of the stitch in order to not twist stitches.

That was round one.
