Taking flight, these butterflies ride on the breeze of summer. A simple and fun project to do with your little ones. You could make a few of these butterflies to hang from a mobile, or scatter them in the trees for a mid-summer’s eve party.
Supplies
Clothespin
At least three sheets of tissue paper in assorted colors
Pipe cleaner
Pom pom
Non-toxic paint
White school glue
Scissors
Paint brushes
First, paint your clothespin so that it will have time to dry.
While this is drying, cut the three sheets of tissue paper to 3 x 7 inches.
Scrunch each piece of paper separately in the center so that they resemble bow ties. Set them aside
When the pin is dry, cut a pipe cleaner in half.
Wrap it around a pom pom in the center to make the antenna.
Attach the head to the top of the front of the pin with glue ( a glue gun will work too).
Stack the three sheets of tissue paper on top of each other and insert them into the clip of the pin.
Tie a long piece of yarn or string around the belly of the butterfly to hang the butterfly.
