As a waldorf-inspired family, there is quite a lot of doll play that goes on naturally around our home. We are fortunate to have a lovely group of waldorf dolls from many gifted and talented friends and artists.
Each doll is handcrafted in their own special and unique way. And as an devoted knitter, I felt like the clothing for each doll should also be handcrafted and made with great attention and love. And so I began to knit and also collect handknitted dresses, pants, sweaters and bonnets for our growing doll family.
After Maya was gifted with a sweater for one of her beloved dolls from my sister, I knew I wanted to create a pattern of my own – so that I could make more sweaters for our own dolls as well as others to share. This little cardigan pattern is an extremely simple and quick knit, with easy line by line knitting instructions for beginner knitters. It is knit in 5 pieces to be seamed together, and calls for a worsted weight wool. This sweater will fit dolls ranging from 15″-16″ in height.
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
- approximately 150 yards of worsted weight yarn (gauge of 5 sts to 1 inch)
- size 6 knitting needles (or whatever size needed to obtain gauge)
- 3 buttons, 1/2 inch in size
- tapestry needle and scissors
Happy Knitting and Enjoy!
