Here’s an all natural grassy basket for celebrating spring! Children will love participating in this activity too. The little sprouts can even go on your salad for dinner when all is done!
Find a suitable basket. Those that fan out will look empty around the edge. Be aware that there may be some dirt and water on the basket after this is over.

Line the basket with aluminum foil (recycle later), making a lip around the top to contain the soil.

Fill with a small bit of earth and sprinkle with seeds. try radish, alfalfa, wheatgrass, or even clover, depending on the look you want. Or make several! Sprouting seeds will not need to be covered with dirt.

Now give those seeds a drink. If you are working with children it is the perfect time to talk about what plants need to grow: earth, sun, water, and air.
Find a sunny spot for your basket and watch it sprout! Children will love to help with watering every day.
Now you have an all natural grassy basket for your springtime celebration!
This sprouted basket can accompany Kendra’s other project, Wooly Eggs, as well.
