Gardening is a real family affair at our house. With seed catalogs streaming in the mail almost daily, we have a LOT to choose from and to plant. We almost always have extra seeds at the end of the planting season and I never know what to do with them.
This year I have decided to give my leftover seeds to friends who may not have a garden or a green thumb instead of just throwing them into the woods to grow wildly. I didn’t want to just tuck the seeds into a plastic baggie though, I wanted to find a way to give a gift as well as to inspire easy gardening.
So I decided to make my own simple plantable seeded paper using recycled newspaper and leftover flower seeds.
Below you will find a tutorial for how to do just that.
Once the sheet is completely dry… you can do many things with it.
You can lay the whole sheet in a tray of potting soil and watch your little seeds sprout in a week or so!
Or…
You can write a note right on the seeded paper.
Or…
You can tuck it into a greeting card and mail it to a friend with a little note.
Or…
You can cut it up and sprinkle the pieces in a garden.
However you choose to use your seeded paper, you can feel good in knowing that by spreading the gift of gardening with friends and family you are helping to provide habitats and food for insects and animals.
Just another small thing that we can do to help to green up our country.
