Pretty Fall Scarf

This is a great scarf for everyday wear. Using simple crochet stitches and chunky yarn, it is perfect for keeping warm as early autumn turns to winter.
This scarf can be worn wrapped snugly around your neck, making it a great accessory to a warm sweater or jacket.
KEY:
CH-Chain
SS-Slip Stitch
HDC- Half Double Crochet
DC-Double Crochet
Hook: N
Yarn: Bulky Weight
Pattern
-Chain 67
-Place 3DC into 3rd CH from hook, Skip 2 CH, Place 3DC into the next CH, Skip 2 CH, Place 3DC into the next CH, Skip 2 CH, etc. Continue alternating until there are 3 CH left, DC in the last CH, CH3, Turn.
From now on the 3DC will be referred to as a SHELL
-Place 3DC into the first DC of the first SHELL, then place 3DC into the first DC of the next SHELL, etc. Repeat the same pattern until the end of the row, DC into the top of the CH3 of the last row, CH3, Turn.
-Repeat he last row 4 more times, or until the scarf reaches your desired width. Fasten off.
It will now look like this:
You can simply leave it plain as shown above and wrap it around your neck in the ordinary fashion, but for an added detail you can add some pretty crocheted buttons to keep it secured and closed.
Button Pattern
-CH 2, HDC 10 times into the first CH, SS into the first HDC, fasten off.
Stitch the buttons into place on a desired spot on your scarf, and button into place through the front overlapping part of the scarf.
